12/30/09 test, accuracy did suffer clean patched which consisted of 6 drops of 40x rem cleaner followed by dry patch, fyi ,my proven load 55.46-h4198/pac-nor .45 sabotless was not on clean patched target because during deer season, started scrubbing, noticed immediately went to 1.0-1.25moa/no need to waste more bullets. this test was to vary powder charges slightly to see if it would return to normal .6moa clean. loading was very nice clean but accuracy was not. many have found success clean but all 4 of my barrels,2 pac-45's,2 standard ml2 all shoot better dirty. each person will have to test for themselves each barrel.

davew, dont know, did not chrony these as i usually do not chrony inaccurate loads but a good question.it could be possible(but doubtful) more difference on powder variance could bring this back in clean, i did forget to mention all shots were called on the x to the best of my ability without a true target scope crosshair.with all the interest lately, thought i would share mine on dirty vs. clean.the .640 target has 3 shots,1 more just for good measure, also interesting between my 2 .45 pac's is woody is usually .1 more spread on average,it usually takes 8 shots from a totally clean bore to achieve these groups day in/day out,my other pac(long trang) is in a tupperware usually a .5 moa shooter taking just 4 shots to settle in what i call barrel in the groove.yes a tupperware edging out a thumbhole laminate/barely/go figure!

Another reason why I should just be lazy and not swab my barrel between shots. I got the Savage because I was lazy and didn't want to clean a rifle each night after returning from hunting. This just reaffirms my practice.
