Well today started out at 18*, sunny and no wind. Herman went hunting so it was just Bill and myself. Six inches of new snow with many deer foot prints criss crossing the range. The PT's and stats along with the targets and my work sheet should pretty much cover most of the stuff.
On the first trace, no velocity was recorded for the first four shots as there was an unknown obstruction over the one photo cell. I did not discover it until I went out tot check the unit
On trace 2, the first shot produced a very low appearing line on the screen............but? The PSI indicted in print was normal??? Go figure Computers!
On trace 4, I took the first shot and then Bill and I had coffee and a hot McDonald's apple pie (yeah, Bill brings his microwave to the range ;D) . This might explain the difference in the first and second trace?
Now for trace 5??? Yes, I again shot the bore guide down range. Bill was watching the shot and saw the bullet in the dirt in front of the target. I could not figure out why, as the velocity and trace looked normal? Then I went to reload and clean? Uh-Oh! With the new snow, we just walked down range and sure enough, there was a big mark in the snow...............then nothing for another foot...........and then the bore guide popped up out of the snow ;D. It now is painted Orange!!!! Maybe that will help.
What impressed me today was the accuracy I was getting out of the 300 gr. XTP's (that I glued a BB in the nose - hence 305 gr.) with both 55 gr. of N-120 and 60 gr. 0f H-4198. These bullets seated with one hand pressure.
Each week it seems I am learning a little more of the operation on this instrument. The "Pause" feature has helped eliminate those mini lines at the bottom while I am cleaning and loading.
