Another good day at the range with great friends. It got hot but we had fun anyhow.
Don't usually show my bad groups but since it summer and the board is a little slow thought I would post to show what I think was blown sabots.
This is the same load I have shot for 4 different range trips now and it has shot very good for me and richard.N110at 17 grs under N130 at 56 grs.
Was thinking that I had left my scope set up for this load last trip but it was a way off.
The first 2 shots went over the target so I decide to go back to 100 yds and check it To my surprise it was about 10 in high.Adjusted scope and the next was 2 in high, adjusted again and it was allmost center of a 1/2 in dot.
went back to 300 and #6 was about 4 in high so set the power setting to 18 prw.
#7 was touching dot at 7 o'clock,then # 8 was 1/2 inch from #7 at 6 o'clock.
Richard and bill was watching through their spotting scopes but neither of us could tell where #9 went.I think it was because I just blew a sabot, the fps was averageing 3000 fps.
Cooled barrel and shot # 10 they said it hit in the road under the target guess at about 290 yds,so think this was another blown sabot.
We thought I was going to get another good group but it didn't turn out that way.
Shot one more without cooling and it went about 3 in from center dot at 1 o'clock.
After not getting any where with that load today I tried another one with one that did good for richard before.N110 at 15 grs and 55 grs of R-7.This felt like a mild load and should have been around 2900 fps,My chrony quit working so will check it out later.
The first one hit in the target shown in right corner.Didn't want to go back to 100 yds and zero so we decide I shoot at a clay bird at 300,so they could see where I was hitting.
Well the next shot was just under the bird a couple inches. The next one landed down in the road like the one on the other target so think I blew a sabot one that shot too.
The next shot was just under the bird like shot #2 so the next shot I held on top of the bird and finally hit it.
That was the first time I had shot at a clay bird with the savage let alone hit one.But it was so much fun I will be trying it again.
Hope all of you enjoy reading this I sure had fun shooting it.Its still awhile before deer season yet.
