Here is as couple of more targets from Saturdays 100 yd range session. All shots were with the 250 Barnes TEZ. This is the flat based version of their TMZ bullet. One .060 veggie wad was used under each bullet.
RB suggested that I try duplex with this barrel because he felt that the bore is slightly looser near the breech than it is at the muzzle. I agree based on how sabots load. I felt I wanted to be in the 2500-2600 fps range so Rick suggested that based on Harleys 12/48 duplex for the 275g Parker that 13/47 (N110/H332) would be a good starting poing and work up from there if I needed to, but that 2600 ish fps is about as fast as I should go with a 60g total charge. I had 13/47, 14/46, & 15/45 duplexes measured out.
*Right Target: 13/47...Ave velocity 2680 fps 1" group. Kicked pretty good even in an almost 12 lb gun. I thought OK...I'm not gonna shoot the 14/46 or 15/45. Time to back down.
*Left Target: 12/48...Ave velocity 2653 fps...1 1/8" group. Still kicked...(by the way shooting those 200g bullets at 2600 fps is nice)
As I've said before the 250 TEZ start OK then get really really tight about 3/4 the way down the tube. Often, a load will just flat out stop about 2 or 3" above the face of the breechplug and I have to re set myself and give it all I've got to ram it home. It gets worse the more the barrel is fouled. Usually the first one on a clean bore loads like a tight fitting sabot.
I did shoot a 10/50 duplex and ave velocity was 2640 with about a 2" group about 2" left of center. Can't find the target.
Next time I'm going to try swabbing between shots with sabotless and start with a clean barrel.
